- About Me:
Having originally come from a fine art background, I have been working in web design and development since 2002. I left my position in music copyright to take up a web design position at a friend's hosting company in South London. Within 6 months I became a director of the company and over time developed many skills beyong web design including project planning, consultation, business management, marketing and seo.
Over time the company developed and was taken over where I consolidated my position as head of design, my skills also included front end development, client liaison, user training, project scoping and planning as well as the overall management of projects.
In 2010 I moved to Bristol but continued to work remotely for my London based company. Over time I started to develop a client base of my own mainly around the fine art and music sector. In April 2015, I left my permanent position to go freelance under the guise of Dreamabstract. My main specialism is building responsive WordPress driven websites for clients, and I prefer to build bespoke themes from scratch but I am equally happy to install themes, help with setup and customisation.
I work closely with another web developer who handles the more complex programming work required on certain bespoke projects. In addition I also I have a good network of colleagues working in graphic design, social media and marketing to call on if those services are required.
I believe it is important, where possible, to meet the client face to face to discuss their project from the outset to gain a true understanding of their requirements. I am also a keen advocate of Skype video conferencing to hold regular progress meetings and training sessions.
In 2021, the business moved down to Exeter in Devon.
